Our Philosophy of Ministry
We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s (agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
We believe worship of God should be inspirational and that God is worthy of all praise, reverence, and love. Therefore, we take a special time to worship Him during our services with song seeking to be flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we worship in an orderly and reverent manner. It is our goal to worship Him in every aspect of our lives.
We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of God’s Word (the Bible) from Genesis to Revelation, line upon line, precept upon precept, that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. By His indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, and to be a witness for Christ. We also believe that His power, gifts, and enablement are available to all believers today. Calvary Chapel by the Sea is an independent evangelical fellowship affiliated with other like minded fellowships adhering to the Calvary Chapel Philosophy of ministry.
We also work closely with other evangelical fellowships in the body of Christ, although we may not subscribe to their particular ministry styles.
Within months of stepping out to start the home fellowship meeting, one of the local evangelical churches that was considering closing their doors, since they no longer had a minister/pastor, invited Loren to take over as their full-time pastor. They also requested that the church become affiliated with Calvary Chapel’s philosophy of ministry.
The former church officially became Calvary Chapel by the Sea with Loren as their pastor in March 2003. Loren is still asked to speak at other churches, schools, and Christian Unions on the subject of apologetics & cults.
Jeanna, although much busier now with caring for their three children, is still actively involved in the church, overseeing and teaching the children in our Sunday school, and reaching out to local children outside the church. · There is One Eternal, Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are the One True and Living God. All three Persons are co-equal and co-eternal.
· Jesus Christ is the Word become flesh, born of the virgin Mary, fully God and fully man, who is the only mediator between God and man. He lived a perfect life without sin, the perfect revelation of the Father. He submitted Himself to the death of the cross once and for all to provide salvation to all who would believe upon Him. He rose again bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven and will return at the end of the age to judge the living and the dead, the just and the unjust.
· The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, teaches, empowers, sanctifies and resides within all believers. He produces fruit and bestows His gifts to all who have received Christ Jesus as Lord.
· In Adam man was created in the image and likeness of God. Yet through the fall of Adam, all men became sinners by nature, corrupt and alienated from the life of God. Man is spiritually dead and completely unable to save himself.
· Salvation has been provided for all mankind by God's grace alone through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ. Faith is the means by which a believer appropriates Christ's death and the benefits of His grace. This faith will naturally bring forth works that will be in harmony with the Word of God and true righteousness. Everlasting punishment awaits all those who reject the salvation provided in Jesus Christ.
· The Scriptures, the Bible which include the Old and New Testaments, are fully inspired by God and infallible in their original writings. They are the Supreme authority for a believer's faith and conduct. |
